What is a 3D/4D Ultrasound?

3D/4D ultrasound is an elective, non-invasive procedure designed to offer a “peek” inside the womb. Traditional 2D ultrasound returns a black and white image of your baby in utero. 3D ultrasound uses advanced technology to capture a detailed image of your baby. Often, facial expressions and other features are beautifully captured. 4D ultrasound observes your baby inside the womb, capturing both features and movement in real time.

How should I prepare for my 3D/4D Ultrasound?

We recommend drinking plenty of water for at least one week prior to your appointment, as hydration plays a large part in creating clear images. Eating a small portion of food and drinking sweet drinks (like orange juice ) a few hours prior to your appointment helps the baby moving. We will do our best to achieve the best images possible.

What if my baby is not in a good position to get good 3D/4D ultrasound pictures?

Please be aware, on occasion, we may not be able to obtain the exact images you desire due variable factors. The mother’s body type and not having enough fluid around the baby can affect or limit our abilities.

Is Ultrasound safe?

YES! Ultrasound uses harmless sound waves to generate images. No radiation, medication or IVs are required. The procedure is also completely painless for both mom and baby.

How far along in my pregnancy do I need to be?

The ideal time for 3D/4D ultrasound is between the 29th and 31st week. This can vary, so call us if you are considering having your 3D/4D ultrasound before or after this time frame.

Does this replace my doctor's office?

NO! 3D/4D ultrasound is an elective procedure. You should still see your doctor on a regular basis. They will conduct their own ultrasounds as they see it fit.

Does my insurance cover 3D/4D ultrasound?

3D/4D ultrasound is an elective procedure. It is not covered by insurance plans. However, we offer affordable packages.
